Our passion for teaching began long before we became driving instructors. In my early career, I (Les) was a Staff Trainer for Harrods of Knightsbridge, where I learned the value of world-class communication, professionalism, and customer service.

I carried these high standards into the transport industry, where I joined the Wallace School of Transport. My skills in teaching were quickly recognised, and I was soon promoted to being in charge of training their new HGV instructors and retraining existing trainers. This “trainer of trainers” role required an expert understanding of teaching methodology and the ability to train others to the highest possible standard.

This specialist expertise led to some unique opportunities. I was the instructor chosen by the production team to teach TV’s Martin Clunes (Doc Martin) how to drive a lorry for an upcoming documentary. It was a fantastic experience that required absolute professionalism, discretion, and an ability to get results under pressure. (1989)

But our expertise isn’t just based on experience. We believe in being the most qualified instructors we can be. Both Mandy and I have earned the City & Guilds Adult Education Teacher’s Certificate, a formal qualification that proves we are specialists in how to teach adults effectively.

On top of this, we both hold the Diploma in Driving Instruction, an advanced, post-graduate-level qualification that places us in the top tier of driving instructors in the UK. And to complete that picture of expertise, I (Les) am also an active Advanced Driving Test Examiner—a role where I am trusted to assess and qualify drivers who are already at a very high, post-test standard.
